Overview
If you cannot log in to your computer from the sign-in screen or receive an error stating it cannot find the domain, the issue is typically caused by missing VPN connectivity before login.
Symptoms
- Error message: Cannot find the domain.
- Unable to log in remotely using Remote Desktop.
- VPN option not used prior to login.
Cause
- The computer cannot reach the company domain without VPN connectivity.
- Incorrect username format during login.
Resolution
Step 1: Connect VPN Before Logon
- At the Windows sign-in screen, click the Network Sign-In / VPN icon.
- Enter your credentials and connect to VPN before logging in.
Step 2: Verify Domain Format
- When entering your username, use the correct domain format:
CORP\username
Additional Notes
- If the VPN option does not appear, confirm that the VPN client is installed and configured for pre-logon.
