Overview

When you change your company password, your laptop may still have your previous password cached. To sync your new password to your laptop, the computer needs to connect to the company network.

If you are working remotely, you will need to connect to the Cisco Secure Client VPN before syncing your new password.

If You Are Working From the Office

If you are connected to the company network:

  1. Lock your computer by pressing Windows + L on your keyboard.

  2. Once the computer is locked, enter your new password.

  3. If you successfully log in with your new password, your password should now be synced to the laptop.

If You Are Working Remotely

If you are not in the office:

  1. Connect your laptop to the internet.

  2. Open Cisco Secure Client.

  3. Connect to the company VPN.

  4. Wait until the VPN shows that you are Connected.

  5. Once connected, lock your computer by pressing Windows + L on your keyboard.

  6. When the computer is locked, enter your new password.

  7. If you successfully log in with your new password, your password should now be synced to the laptop.

Important

The VPN connection must be established before attempting to sync your new password when working remotely. This allows the laptop to communicate with the company network and update your cached credentials.

If Your New Password Does Not Work

If you are unable to log in with your new password:

  1. Verify that Cisco Secure Client shows Connected.

  2. Make sure you are connected to the internet.

  3. Lock the computer again using Windows + L.

  4. Try entering your new password again.

  5. If the new password still does not work, contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.

Quick Reminder

In the office:
Company network → Windows + L → Enter new password → Password synced.

Working remotely:
Internet → Cisco VPN → Windows + L → Enter new password → Password synced.
