Microphone Not Working (teams)

Symptoms

• Others cannot hear you during a Teams meeting.
• Teams displays a microphone error.
• Your microphone does not detect any sound.

Resolution

Step 1: Verify Microphone Permissions

1. Click and open computer Settings.
2. Select Privacy & Security.
3. Select Microphone.
4. Ensure Microphone Access is turned On.
5. Ensure Let apps access your microphone is turned On.
6. Verify that Microsoft Teams has permission to use the microphone.

Step 2: Verify the Correct Microphone is Selected

1. Open Teams.
2. Select the three dots (...) in the upper-right corner.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select Devices.
5. Under Microphone, select the microphone you wish to use.
6. Speak and verify the microphone indicator responds.

Step 3: Check the Mute Button

1. During a Teams meeting, confirm the microphone icon is not muted.
2. If muted, select the microphone icon to unmute.

Step 4: Restart Teams

1. Close Microsoft Teams.
2. Reopen Teams.
3. Join a meeting and test the microphone again.
