Overview

If you cannot log in to your computer from the sign-in screen or receive an error stating it cannot find the domain, the issue is typically caused by missing VPN connectivity before login.

Symptoms

  • Error message: Cannot find the domain.
  • Unable to log in remotely using Remote Desktop.
  • VPN option not used prior to login.

Cause

  • The computer cannot reach the company domain without VPN connectivity.
  • Incorrect username format during login.

Resolution

Step 1: Connect VPN Before Logon

  • At the Windows sign-in screen, click the Network Sign-In / VPN icon.
  • Enter your credentials and connect to VPN before logging in.

Step 2: Verify Domain Format

  • When entering your username, use the correct domain format:
CORP\username

Additional Notes

  • If the VPN option does not appear, confirm that the VPN client is installed and configured for pre-logon.
